Woodland base

The example below is a scenic display base: a surface large enough for me to apply every technique and material that I possess for woodland terrain. For smaller surfaces, such as the base of a miniature, I would not do all - maybe pick two from flowers, grass tufts and bushes.

Apply a mix of brown and green flocking, representing patches of earth showing through the grass. Mix the two and spread some of the mix over the brown, as if small grass tufts would be growing there.

Apply thick patches of PVA glue and spread around flowers. (This material feels like colored sponge.)

Thick small patches of PVA glue fix the grass tufts.

As for the flowers, thick glue fixes larger bushes (again, colored sponge).

Dilute PVA glue with a lot of water (around 1:1, maybe more water - until it's like a milky fluid) and coat generously. Just don't touch the tufts - they don't like water.

Berries: while the bushes are being sealed (as above), sprinkle berries - in my case, small red-colored rocks. Wait until fully dry (24 hours work best), then seal again.
